Jeffers Theater Poster, Saginaw Michigan. c. 1912.
Masker and Picard played at the Jeffers Theater, in Saginaw Michigan on New Years Eve, 1921. Vince was 17 years old in August of that year.
Vince and Joe had been playing fairs and local vaudeville shows for a couple of years when they answered this advertisement in a Bay City Michigan newspaper. In 1921, they joined the Pilmore and Grangers Vaudeville Circus, which, like many shows at that time had contracts that included carnivals, fairs and of course indoor theaters. Joe and Pic would be “two stickers on two sticks,” an old saying among horizontal-bar athletes. They played with Pilmore and Grangers for the next two years -- under canvas in summer under canvas and on stage in winter.
